Photographs 1950-1979.

This series consists of photographs from the Office of Media relations. The photos date from the 1950s through the 1970s. The photos document special activities at the Medical Center and Medical Center personnel. Photographs document a Mayor's Reception for Foreign Students in 1958, research activities at the Medical Center during the 1960s, and personnel, including faculty and staff. Prominent individuals appearing in the photographs include Drs. Joseph F. Volker, S. Richardson Hill, Robert C. Berson, and Champ Lyons. The photographs were used for Medical Center publications and accompanied news stories about the Medical Center and UAB.

The Office of Media Relations was created in 1990, but its origin may be traced to the 1960s. During the 1960s, Fred Woodress served as assistant to the vice president for health affairs for public relations.
