The Scobey Extension is a section of track built from Scobey to Opheim, Montana in 1925. As a condition under which GN agreed to build the extension, the people to be served by the line were required to subscribe for $304,200 of GN stock at par value to help finance the construction. 351 shares of the subscription could not be collected, and after repeated attempts to do so, a 1924 corporate resolution formally cancelled the unpaid subscriptions. The Rexford, Mont., station of the Great Northern Railway was established in 1903. It was closed in 1972 when the railroad was rerouted due to the flooding of the area behind the Libby Dam.
