The Rexford, Mont., station of the Great Northern Railway was established in 1903. It was closed in 1972 when the railroad was rerouted due to the flooding of the area behind the Libby Dam. Incorporated in 1898 under the laws of the state of Washington, it purposed to take over the Seattle and Montana Railway, the Fairhaven and Southern Railroad, and the New Westminster Southern Railway, and could construct and operate additional lines within Washington.
