The Rexford, Mont., station of the Great Northern Railway was established in 1903. It was closed in 1972 when the railroad was rerouted due to the flooding of the area behind the Libby Dam. Barnesville and Moorhead Railway Company.

The company was incorporated in 1880 and constructed a rail line between Barnesville and Moorhead in Clay County.
