Directors' Administrative Files 1964-1990.

The administrative files document public relations activities at UAB from the mid 1960s through 1990. The first three boxes contain materials created by Fred Woodress and provide information about events and activities at UAB in the mid 1960s. The remainder of the boxes document the evolution of public relations activities at UAB under the direction of Gloria Goldstein-Howton. Correspondence provides information about the operation of the Office, special projects relating to UAB events, and efforts to coordinate and clarify public relations activities at the University. Press releases and clippings provide examples of public relations efforts and contain information about UAB people and events. The series also contains information about the creation of the UAB Catalogue, the annual President's Report, and the development of Creative Services.

The Office of President of UAB was established in 1969 when the University of Alabama in Birmingham became an autonomous institution within the framework of the University of Alabama System. Dr. J.
