William Wallace, Jr. (1864-1939) was a Helena, Montana, attorney. Collection (1870-1915) consists of correspondence, legal documents, and court papers concerning two law suits over ownership of three Idaho mining claims. Samuel Thomas Hauser (1833-1914), born in Kentucky, moved to Missouri in 1853 and became an engineer. He was a member of the Yellowstone Expedition of 1863 and the 1870 Washburn-Langford-Doane Expedition to the Upper Missouri. William Wallace, Jr. was born in Syracuse, New York, on January 28, 1864, the son of William and Helen Carpenter Wallace. He began high school at the age of ten, and, although he never matriculated at Harvard, he passed the finals at the age of fifteen. From 1879 to 1880 he worked on his father's sheep ranch in Montana. Helena, Mont., entrepreneur. Anton M. Holter was born in Norway in 1831. He arrived in the U.S. in 1854.
