Town meeting site papers, 1895.

A small collection of papers collected by Samuel A. Green related to his involvement on a committee of the Mass. Council which attempted to determine the site of the first town meeting and the first public school in America, for the purpose of erecting a monument. The committee determined that no exact location could be ascertained and that no monument should be erected. Correspondents include Edward Channing, a member of the committee.
