Veldman graduated from Hope College in 1926 and from the Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing (Chicago) in 1929. In 1946 she received a Masters of Nursing Education and Administration from Columbia University. In 1930 Veldman accepted a missionary nursing position in Amoy, China. After the communist takeover, Veldman was re-assigned to the Arabian Mission as Director of Nursing. William Robertson Angus, Jr. graduated from Rutgers University with a B.S. in 1922. He received his Bachelors of Divinity from Hartford Seminary in 1925 and was licensed by the classis of Bergen, RCA in that same year. Angus was commissioned by the Board of Foreign Missions and appointed as a missionary to China where he served until 1952.
