Photographs of the Mariners Museum, 1930-1932.

This collection consists of photographs (photographer unknown) of the park land including surveying roads in the park, construction of a bridge over Route 60 (Warwick Blvd.) and a bridge over the dam on Museum Drive, Causey's wooden mill, some local houses (including an early wooden cabin with brick chimney), and aerial views of the construction area. Also, includes photographs of a poem by Archer M. Huntington, sculptures by Anna Hyatt Huntington in New York City, a 1931 map of Warwick County, and a typed extract from an original patent filed with the Secretary of the Commonwealth of Virginia describing a 1624 land grant to Edward Waters of Elizabeth City, Va.

Approximately 900 acres in Warwick County, north of Newport News, Va., were developed into a park in 1930, as part of the terms of the charter of the Mariners Museum.
