Colonel by Nebraska Territorial Governor Alvin Saunders; a mustering order for Patrick into the 1st Nebraska Cavalry; a resolution by the officers of the 1st Nebraska Cavalry that Patrick be elected commander; two letters of commendation from the troops of the 5th Iowa Cavalry; a set of orders that the 5th Iowa Cavalry proceed from Pulaski to Nashville, Tennessee; a letter of commendation from the Nebraska Territorial Legislature; a letter of commendation from E.P. Breuster, Secretary to the governor of Nebraska Territory; and a certificate of appointment as marshall for Utah Territory by President U.S. Grant.
