Chiefly correspondence, 1882-1930, accounts, 1882-1925, account books, 1876-1917, diaries, 1913, and scrapbooks, 1871-1931, of George Harvey Clarke (1852-1931), Richmond, Va., merchant. The diaries were kept while travelling in Algeria, Italy, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, France, and England. Also included are papers of Augustine Burfoot Clarke, including miscellaneous papers and a scrapbook, 1877-1892; papers of Mary Ellen (Pollard) Clark (1862-1939), including correspondence, 1879-1938, a diary, 1890-1899, school papers kept while attending the Female High School, Baltimore, Md., and scrapbooks, one concerning her activities in the woman's suffrage movement, 1914-1921, and one concerning the campaign and election of John Garland Pollard (1871-1927) as governor of Virginia; papers of John Pollard (1839-1911), Baptist minister of Baltimore, Md., and Richmond, Va., and professor at Richmond College (now the University of Richmond), including correspondence, 1875-1905, a diary, 1903, kept in Caroline County, Va., speeches, and scrapbooks, 1880-1893; and correspondence, 1860-1864, of Edward Bagby (1843-1864) while attending Columbian College (now George Washington University), Washington, D.C., and as a Confederate soldier at Adams Run, S.C., Gloucester Point and Petersburg, Va.
