This collection consists of the "setting copy" and edited manuscript of Edward A. Rossit's book titled Snow camping and mountaineering. The book was published by Funk and Wagnall's in January 1970. The collection also contains the 40 original illustrations by Charles P. Conley for the book. It appears that there are three prints of the illustrations, which appear to be pen and ink sketches. The copies include what appears to be the original sketch, a copy of the sketch and the galley proof of the sketch.

Edward A. Rossit was born on 4 September 1921 on the island of Manhattan in New York City. He graduated from New York City University. During World War II he was a navigational officer aboard aircrafts that flew at altitudes higher than 40,000 feet. After the war, Rossit served for a number of years in the U.S. Dept. of State as a Foreign Service officer in Europe.
