Rossit, Edward A.

Edward A. Rossit was born on 4 September 1921 on the island of Manhattan in New York City. He graduated from New York City University. During World War II he was a navigational officer aboard aircrafts that flew at altitudes higher than 40,000 feet. After the war, Rossit served for a number of years in the U.S. Dept. of State as a Foreign Service officer in Europe. When he moved to Seattle, WA, he became a dedicated mountaineer through the influence of his wife, Nora. Rossit was very involved in business, politics and mountaineering. Rossit founded the public relations firm, E. A. Rossit & Associates, in Seattle, WA. In 1964, he ran for Secretary of State in the state of Washington. And, throughout his life he hiked, camped and climbed mountains. Rossit passed away in Olympia, WA on 28 July 1998.
