Justin Smith Morrill homestead photographs, 1969.

42 photographs of Justin S. Morrill's Gothic Revival home in Strafford, Vermont, taken in the winter of 1969. Morrill's homestead was built in 1855 and declared a National Historic Landmark in 1960. The photos document the exterior of Morrill's former residence and surrounding property. There are a few duplicates and some have annotations written by the photographer, Gordon Sweet. Gordon Sweet was a photographer in Mount Carmel, Connecticut.

Justin Smith Morrill was born in Strafford, Vermont on April 14, 1810. He became a Vermont representative (1855-1867) and senator (1867-1898) known mainly for the Morrill Land-Grant Colleges Act, passed in 1862. Justin Smith Morrill died on December 28, 1898.
