This series contains the records of the Civilian Pilot Training Program at the University of New Hampshire. Included are such things as: lists of participants, correspondence and instructions from the Civil Aeronautics Authority, applications for admission, infirmary records and financial documents. See also University Archives collection UA 1/1/2 for the original contracts between the University and the Civil Aeronautics Authority as well as the insurance policy required for each flight training student.

In 1861, the United States federal government approved the Morrill Act which set aside land in each state for the founding of public higher education. In 1862, the New Hampshire state legislature accepted the grant of 80,000 acres of public lands on which to set up a university.
