The collection contains architectural and property records of Fort Benjamin Harrison on paper aperture cards with microfiche attached and microfilm. The largest part of the collection is plans for many buildings on the base, arranged by building numbers designated by Fort Harrison. Following are plans of buildings without numbers and structures such as bridges and roads. Also included are plans of U.S. Army Reserve centers in Indiana, with some in Illinois and Michigan. Other materials include plans by job number, planning documents and shop drawings, and dual purpose engineering document cards. The microfilm reels contain information originally on microfiche rolls, including bidding information to contractors.

The establishment of Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis, Ind. was approved by Congress in 1903 and named in 1906 after the former U.S. President from Indiana. The facility was an Army post until 1948, when it came under control of the Air Force. In 1951 the Army again took control of the facility, and it became home to the Army Finance School and Army Finance Center.
