George Richards Minot (1885-1950), AB, 1908, Harvard College; MD, 1912, Harvard Medical School, was a hematologist and Director of the Thorndike Memorial Laboratory at Boston City Hospital. Minot was also Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. His research focused on blood and nutrition, and he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine or Physiology in 1934 for discovering that liver extract cured pernicious anemia. Isaacs (1891-1965) (Cincinnati, M.D. 1918) worked with Dr. George Richards Minot on pernicious anemia at Huntington Hospital in Boston, Mass. In 1927 he became assistant director of the Simpson Memorial Institute for Medical Research at the University of Michigan. He also taught and conducted research at the University of Michigan.
