The collection consists of prints of microfilm copies of the correspondence of Hamtramck and Josiah Harmar, 1787-1793, while Hamtramck was serving at Vincennes. Included are Harmar's letterbooks; records from Kaskaskia, Ill.; and Hamtramck's correspondence. Topics include relations with local Indian groups and Indian raids in Indiana and Kentucky; Fort Knox and Vincennes; the post at Kaskaskia; and frontier life in general.
