The collection consists mainly of newsclippings organized into biographical file or by Wyoming county concerning the activities of individual soldiers and their families. The collection also contains information regarding the Civilian Pilot Training program organized by the Civil Aeronautics Authority, photographs and the impact of the war upon the University.

The War Activities Council was formed in 1942 at the University of Wyoming in response to World War II. The council kept records of individuals across the state, which were involved in the war. The purpose of the council was to recognize and record the efforts of the men and women from Wyoming serving in each of the four branches of the armed forces.
