William Holland Wilmer was born in Kent County, Md. on the 29th of October 1782. He was educated at Washington College in Chestertown, Md. and ordained an Episcopal clergyman in 1809. He served parishes in Maryland and Virginia and was president of the House of Clergical and Lay Deputies of the General Convention of the Episcopal Church.
