Pennsylvania Population Company and North River Petroleum Company stock certificates, 1793-1865.

This collection consists of two stock certificates. One is supplied by the Pennsylvania Population Company (1793) to Robert Morris and signed by President John Nicholson. Morris and Nicholson were partners in speculating. It was printed by Francis Bailey. The other stock certificate is to Francis N. Gove for 250 shares of the North River Petroleum Company in Warren County, Pennsylvania (1865) and is signed by President Henry N. Morgan. It was printed by C.O. Jones and has a United States "entry of goods" 25-cent revenue stamp affixed (Scott #R45, 1862-71 issues).
