Henry Yates Thompson (1838-1928), book-collector, was born at Dingle Cottage, near Liverpool, on 15 December 1838. He attended Harrow and Trinity College, Cambridge (B.A., 1862), and was called to the bar at Lincoln's Inn in 1867.
