Saying that [Richard] Wagner has not answered his letter because it arrived just at the hour of triumph of "la noire intrigue" that has been mounted against him--or, more precisely, against his protector--, that Wagner is very touched by the proof of Ellerton's friendship, adding that the success of Tannhäuser pleases Wagner greatly and thanking Ellerton for letting him know of it.
