Explaining why he does not feel he can accept a commission for new work for the New York Symphony Orchestra, saying he always felt that the previous commission, Jurgen, was the direct cause of the Metropolitan's commissioning The King's Henchman, and thanking him for what he wrote about Peter Ibbetson; with the carbon copy of Flagler's typewritten reply to the earlier letter, dated [New York?] Sept. 1 1927, sympathizing with Taylor's decision to decline the commission.
