Autograph letter signed, dated : Naples, 24 November 1795, to his son Luigi, 1795 Nov. 24.

Relating some recent amusing events: the previous week Father Furtini sent eight pounds of chocolate with a note hinting that the nuns had sent him the present--one of no importance--but that eventually he must fulfill his duties; Piccinni sent the chocolate back with a note "de ma façon" and on the same day that cunning monk appeared with Father Barbati; Furtini cried and said not a word, Piccinni confounded Barbati and did not wish to receive anything; the two left, red as two turkeycocks, and went on foot to Luigi's mother and flirted with his sisters, promising them they would soon marry; Piccinni wished to put an end to this scene but thought it better to turn his back and scorn them; he asks if Luigi sees how highly his work has been valued, and if he sinks to his knees at being freed from it; Piccinni adds that he can give no categorical answer to the subject of their correspondence, nor to Luigi's plan to write an opera for Russia; he expresses regret that he must leave the house he is living in and that he cannot send the 204 ducats, saying that he has no news from Lisa, Bucciarelli, or Joseph, etc.
