Sending [in 1809] the text of a song [present], which he is sending to "the Conductors of 4 morning papers," saying [in 1816] that "Mrs. Shield's indisposition is too constant to allow her the least hope of accompanying me," but that he intends to play the viola part "in all the full pices," mentioning Miss Bentley, Miss Newman, etc.; the six-stanza song text begins: "Come fill up your wine / Look--! fill it like mine." Above the text Shield has written: "The following Song, composed by Wm Shield Musician in Ordinary to his Majesty, will be sung to morrow the 25th of October 1809 in several Halls and Taverns."
