Autograph letter signed, dated : Algiers, 24 February 1911, to M. Harnisch in Lausanne, 1911, 24 February.

Saying that the Benoist who was his teacher at the Conservatoire has no connection with the Belgian Peter Benoit, that what Harnisch calls Saint-Saëns's second Mass is no doubt his Messe de Requiem, that the music of Brahms bores him as does that of Franck, and for the same reason, and adding that an independent religion is not a religion: "l'étymologie du mot s'y oppose."
