Autograph letter signed, dated : Paris Sept. 22 1861, to an unidentified recipient in Weimar, 1861 Sept. 22.

Concerning the position of solo violinist at the court, which His Royal Highness offered him and which Liszt proposed at the time of Lotto's last visit to Weimar, saying he has decided that it would be better for his artistic career to continue to travel while he is still young, that he will not request pay for the position but that the honorary title itself would be a great honor, adding that he has written to Liszt on the subject, asking if he could be granted the title, etc.; at the end is an autograph note signed, dated W[eimar] Sept. 25 1861, apparently from the recipient to a named but unidentified person, suggesting that Lotto's letter be shown to His Royal Highness.
