Saying that [Karl] Wehle, is by no means one of the "comètes découvertes par Hersch[e]l," but has a distinguished reputation of a composer-pianist in Paris--physically he resembles Schulhoff, as a musician he may justly be placed between Schulhoff and Stephen Heller--, happily born on some "bateau de l'état" between the Charybdis of the "Zukunfts-Musik" and the Scylla of Bachian counterpoint, giving his confidential opinion of Wehle and his sonata, etc.
