Saying that the dark side of her enormous celebrity is to see all the strangers who come to Paris flock to her door in order to observe the characteristics of the great tragedienne, but that an exception should be made for the bearer of this letter, Mlle de Hagen [i.e. Charlotte von Hagn] from the royal German theatre in Berlin, whom Meyerbeer recommends highly, and who wants so much to meet Rachel, etc.
