Letters, soundscribers, telegrams, memos and notes related primarily to Lord Beaverbrook's acquisition of paintings, many of which were eventually displayed at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery. LeRoux acted as Beaverbrook's advisor and purchasing agent in this regard. A brief sketch of his life is on file. F.H. Varley's portrait of Beaverbrook's daughter, Janet and George Lambert's portrait of Lady Beaverbrook are discussed briefly. The file also discusses negotiations conducted concerning the purchase of works, their authenticity, cleaning, framing and shipment to New Brunswick. Other topics include: LeRoux's published articles on art, his relationship with the Tate Gallery and his business trips and expenses; the 1955 Daily Express Young Artists' Exhibit held at Bonar Law Bennett Library, the loan of paintings and publication of the exhibit catalogue; plans to construct an art gallery in Fredericton; (CONTINUED). The file contains a list of paintings purchased by his lordship as of Oct. 29, 1954; a list of early historical paintings acquired by the Canadian government; Helmut Ruhemann's report on the condition of Constable's "Flatford Mill"; possibility of Graham Sutherland painting a portrait of Mrs. Eaton and notes on Canaletto's "Entrance to the Great Arsenal, Venice" and on artist, Salvador Dali.
