Cash book recording accounts of "adventures" to London, Barbados, St. Eustatius, Antigua, Louisburg, and Halifax. Henry Bromfield shipped spermaceti oil to London, New England rum and sugar to Halifax and Louisburg. There are also accounts in the volume of more local, coastwise shipping.

The Bromfield family was a distinguished clan of Boston merchants who had first arrived in America in the 17th century. Edward Bromfield was born in 1695 and died in 1756. The beginning of this collection almost certainly reflects his activities in the trade of rum, sugar and molasses. His son Henry was born in 1727 and also became a merchant though his later dealings focused on the English trade in cloth, ribbons and sundries.
