Francis P. Puzycki was born in Jewett City, Conn. in 1924 and enlisted in the Army at Hartford, Conn. in 1943. His parents were John Puzycki and Josephine Abramowski Puzycki. At the time of enlistment he was unmarried and had completed four years of high school. Puzycki joined the 10th Mountain Division at Camp Hale, Colo. and was assigned to Company C of the 86th Infantry Regiment.
