For each of ten titles, Butch elects a mayor (1969), Daisy (1973), The grandma in the apple tree (1970), The happy voyage (1965), Journey to America (1970), Mister de Luca's horse (1962), The mystery of the third twin (1972), Ring around the moon (1977), Secret island (1977), and Shadow of the lighthouse (1974), the Collection holds illustrations, and for The grandma in the apple tree and I hate it (1978) there are paste-ups. The Collection also holds illustrations for a magazine article, "A heart is stolen."

Born in Buffalo, New York in 1893, she married writer Henry Beston. She graduated from Vassar in 1915 and Columbia with an M.A. in 1916. Belongs to Phi Beta Kappa, won a Newbery Medal in 1931.
