John Kelly Cauthen began his career as a newspaper man working on the 'News and Courier' and 'Columbia Record' in the 1930's. Cauthen served as Executive Secretary to Governors J.E. Harley and R.M. Jefferies 1941-42. He joined the South Carolina Textile Manufacturing Association in 1943 and stayed with the Association until his retirement as Executive Vice President in 1971.
