Cauthen, John K., 1906-1973

John Kelly Cauthen began his career as a newspaper man working on the 'News and Courier' and 'Columbia Record' in the 1930's. Cauthen served as Executive Secretary to Governors J.E. Harley and R.M. Jefferies 1941-42. He joined the South Carolina Textile Manufacturing Association in 1943 and stayed with the Association until his retirement as Executive Vice President in 1971. Cauthen served on many boards and commissions including the South Carolina Ports Authority, S.C. ETV and the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education.
