Collection of correspondence, photographs, newspaper clippings gathered by J. Mark Frey, related to Lehigh University, Lehigh YMCA and Chinese students, and Bethlehem Steel Corporation. Frey was the secretary of Lehigh YMCA and involved with Americanization and naturalization classes for Bethlehem Steel's immigrant workers. The collection, donated by J. Mark Frey's daughter, Carolyn Kenworthy, in 1991, provides valuable picture of one aspect of life at Lehigh University in the early 20th Century.

The Lackawanna Iron and Coal Company, formed in Pennsylvania during the 1840's moved to a West Seneca, N.Y. site in 1899. Steelmaking began in 1903 and by 1909 the City of Lackawanna had been established around the steel plant.
