Frey was the General Secretary of the YMCA at Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Pa., from 1915-1920. His duties included a weekly class in Christianity with the Chinese students at Lehigh, and "Americanization" classes for immigrants employed by Bethlehem Steel Co.
