This manuscript volume is signed, "Nouvelle Orleans, November 3, 1845, Reynes, Secretaire." It lists, in registry form, the individual documents now described as Letters, proclamations, and decrees from Pierre-Clement de Laussat [to the Conseil Municipal], 1803-1804, and Letters, petitions, and reports [to the Conseil de Ville], 1804-1835. Also listed, though in less detail, are the other documents then housed in the archives. Not all of those records currently survive in the City Archives Collection. Also available in a photocopy of a typewritten, English translation.

Laussat, Pierre-Clément de, 1756-1835

Pierre Clément de Laussat, born at Pau, was receiver-general at Pau in 1789, arrested in 1793, released, became paymaster general of the army of the Pyrénées Orientales in 1793, and was a member of the Conseil des Cinq-Cents in 1797. In 1802 he was appointed préfet coloniale de la Louisiane and from 1823-25 he was commandant and administrator of French Guiana.
