George L. Stuart, Jr. was born in 1946 in Orlando, Fla. After receiving a degree in economics and political science from the University of Florida and an M.B.A from Harvard, he was elected Orlando city commissioner for district 2 in 1972. Later he served 10 years in the Florida Senate and, in 1990, ran unsuccessfully for Governor of Florida.
