Horticulturalist and educator. Chairman of the board of the Glenn St. Mary Nursery Company of Florida and president of the E.O. Painter Fertilizer Co. From 1931 to 1949, Hume was employed at the University of Florida. He served as Dean of the College of Agriculture from 1938 to 1949 and Provost of Agriculture from 1943 to 1949.
