In his capacity, as chairman of the New Hampshire State Liberal Republicans invites Mason, a committee member from Grafton County, to "take the stump" for the national ticket of Greely and Brown; comments on gubernatorial election prospects, and complains about trickery involving counterfeit tickets, Mason being the liberal Republican candidate.

Henry O. Kent, a native of Lancaster, NH, graduated from Norwich University in 1854. He was a member of the University Regulators and Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity and was an organizer of the Alumni Association in 1860. Kent acted as a trustee of Norwich University from 1854 to 1909.
