Papers of Martha Nash, 1947-1995.

The collection contains biographical information in the form of Nash's diary, resumes, letters of recommendation, writings, speeches, and newspaper clippings. The bulk of the collection, however, documents her work with the National Council of Catholic Women and the Dubuque Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women in the form of correspondence, conference papers, study programs, newsletters, and other printed materials. The subject emphases of these materials include: religious and social reform in light of Vatican II,civil rights, and racial justice. Also included in the collection are materials on race relations, the status of women, health care, and education in Iowa. There are also materials about the United States and its relations with other nations and race relations within its own borders and printed materials by and about the United Nations. Also included are photographs documenting Nash's personal and professional life.
