Papers of Cora Call Whitley, 1917-1937.

Correspondence, clippings, writings, speeches, and memoranda relating to Whitley's activities with the Council of National Defense, namely, child welfare, the Children's Year, health and recreation, protective work for girls, the student nurse reserve, the thrift and savings campaign, testing of weights and measurements, and women in industry. The papers also relate to Whitley's later conservation activities with the General Federation of Women's Clubs, her associations with the Izaak Walton League, the Cooper-Santee Project, S.C., forestry and tree planting programs both in Iowa and nationally, and especially her leadership in the Outdoor Good Manners campaign. Her conservation work was honored with the establishment of the Whitley Forest at Lake Ahquaki State Park near Indianola, Iowa.
