The Oscar H. Stroh papers, 1916-1990.

Contains rosters of: Troop E, 6th U.S. Cavalry (1916), 104th Cavalry of the Pa. National Guard (1922-28), troops departing from Camp Stoneman, Calif. to Forts Dix, Bragg and Bliss (1946), men transferred from the U.S. 104th Cavalry to other units (1943) and a staff directory of headquarters IX Corps (1951). Includes memorabilia from the Korean War and a booklet entitled: IX CORPS IN KOREA and various course materials from Command and General Staff School entitled: ATTACK OF AN ATOLL: INFANTRY DIVISION ASSAULT LANDING OPERATIONS (n.d.) and maps and text entitled: SUPPLY PROBLEMS IN INDIA, BURMA AND CHINA (n.d.). Newspaper clippings on the 104th Cavalry of Pa. National Guard (n.d.) and information on the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem Knights (1990) are found in the collection.

Stroh was a Private in the 104th Cavalry, Pa. National Guard during the 1920's. Saw action in World War II and attended the Command and General Staff School. In 1946 as Captain was commander of transportation for several troop trains departing Camp Stoneman, Calif. for Forts Bragg, Bliss and Dix. Became Major (1951) and was with the 523rd MIS Platoon, IX Corps in Korea (1951). Advanced to rank of Lt. Colonel in Corps of Engineers and retired as such. From the description of The Oscar...
