Collection includes a speech (transcribed by Elsie Miriam Paine) given by MacDuffie at her 25th Radcliffe College reunion in 1908, about her early affiliation with the Annex, her teachers, and instruction. Also included are copies of letters to Elizabeth Cary Agassiz in 1902 and 1903 regarding the awarding of an A.B. degree to MacDuffie.

Elizabeth Cary Agassiz, educator and college president, was born in Boston, December 5, 1822 and married the Swiss naturalist Louis Agassiz in 1850. She was an educational reformer, member of the Woman's Education Association, but never an advocate of women's suffrage or of co-education. Abby Parsons was a member of the first class at Radcliffe. She was born in 1860 and attended the "Harvard Annex" from 1879 to 1883. She taught at Prospect Hill School in Greenfield, Massachusetts. In 1886 she married John MacDuffie, and in 1888 they founded the MacDuffie School for Girls in Springfield, Massachusetts. She was active in the local suffrage movement and served as the first president of the Springfield League of Women Voters. She retired from teaching in 1936 and died in 1937. ...
