One volume records Bucher's financial transactions and some of her daily activities: real estate dealings; civic improvements; her work with the Boatmen's Bethel, the local benevolent society; and other church and missionary activities. She was instrumental in securing the release of a young prisoner and took considerable interest in the recipients of a scholarship set up in her husband's memory at Franklin and Marshall College. Other entries refer to the visits of guests, including Philip Schaff, and to the family's own travels.
