Correspondence of Elsie Miller Palmer with four generations of the Miller and Palmer families. Correspondents include her father, J. Peery Miller, and her three sisters, Della Miller Cottrell, Hazel Miller Hopkins, and Edna Dean Miller Birch. There is also correspondence with the Palmers' two daughters: Lucile Palmer Cavender, librarian (Simmons School of Library Science, M.L.S., 1921) and E. Gertrude Palmer Gaines (Antioch College, A.B., 1929). The letters are those of a close-knit family who wrote regularly of their everyday lives. Topics include student life at Antioch and Simmons, Lucile Cavender's experience as a librarian at Adelbert College, Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio, and public libraries in Middleboro and Attleboro, Mass. and Gertrude Gaines' experience in retailing.

Elsie Miller Palmer was born in Yellow Springs, Ohio, graduated from Antioch College, and married Rev. Stephen G. Palmer in about 1898. Her father, J. Peery Miller, was professor of history at Antioch College, and all but one of the eight Miller children graduated from Antioch. Rev. Palmer taught at Antioch, at Northborough (Mass.)
