The collection consists of the complete office records of the Carr and Carr firm, and of its several predecessors. Included are incoming and outgoing correspondence, account books, ledgers, cases, journals and receipts. Members of the firm who are represented in the collection include Ray B. Griffin, Charles E. Bronson, Millard F. LeRoy, Hubert Carr, Edward M. Carr and Amos S. Blair. The records of the Manchester and Oneida Railroad, which E. M. Carr founded, are also included.

The pioneer law firm Carr and Carr was located in Manchester Iowa. Several firm members were active in state and local politics and in the founding and administration of the Manchester and Oneida Railroad. The donor of the collection, Hubert Carr, was a graduate of the University of Iowa and received his law degree from Drake University in Des Moines.
