The Rev. Charles F. King, S.J., papers consist of two bound manuscript volumes in Latin, a bound notebook, and a manuscript poem. The first manuscript volume has the spine title 'Theodocea and Ethica' and bears dates from 27 April 1837 through 5 May 1851. The second has the spine title 'Cosmologia and Psychologia' and appears to have been used during the academic year 1845/46. Students in the philosophy class of that year, under Frs. James Curley and John Early, are listed on the rear endpaper, but the six names do not include King himself. The bound notebook of lined pages, though largely blank, was used by King as a diary from Oct. 10, 1847 to April 3, 1848 and also for the beginnings of a commonplace book. The front cover of the notebook has the ownership stamp of 'V.H. Barber', the Jesuit priest Victor Horace Barber, who died in 1847. The manuscript Latin poem is addressed to Fr. Gaetano Bedini upon his being appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Brazil and is signed by C. F. King at Georgetown.
